Lose Weight, Get in Shape, Easy Button

I was reading an interesting article today in the local paper, an AP story, so I’m sure it’s around the world, but still a matter of who picks it up. The article was an interview with Tenille Ray, the reigning Miss Universe.

Miss Universe is a body building title, not a beauty pageant thing, but Ms Ray could probably do alright with that as well, although she’s not traditionally beautiful and is likely a bit old for that, but wow, she’s in shape!

This is a quick post, though, with just one thing to think about. Paraphrasing one of her quotes, “The biggest part of being in shape is knowing when to put down the fork.” That is gold. I know most of the people who come to this blog aren’t competitive body builders. This is more for the novice or the person just looking to lose a few pounds, so this is the thing. The first time I got on a scale and thought WTF? where’d that number come from? I managed to lose about 15 pounds in a few months by just letting go of second helpings. That’s it.

When I first got married, I used to eliminate possible left overs. If there was a bit of potatoes or stuffing in the pot on the stove, it never made it to the fridge. Get the picture?

I still keep that strategy, although I admit Thanksgiving was an exception, but..put down the fork and walk away from the table. You’ll be happy you did.
