Life Changing Events – Being a Catalyst

by rob britt on December 27, 2008

I’ve gone to some seminars and some ‘retreats’ and some camps. I’ve been to ‘major events’ and all of those have had impact on who I am as a person. For years growing up, my parents hauled me and my younger brother to these 4-day Jesus events in the Pocono mountains – thousands of people, speaking in tongues, mystic healing, evangelicals, etc. I was mostly just looking for girls to talk to, but all the surroundings had to help shape who I am today.

The thing I wanted to talk about was a guy I worked with many years ago;  we were pretty close, and he handed me a book, Body for Life, by Bill Phillips. Not an extraordinary book, especially, but a really basic introduction to fitness, weight lifting, cardio and nutrition. Just reading that book changed my mindset about fitness and started me on this road.

That got me involved with T. Harv Eker and his seminars on personal transformation. That encouraged me to write my book and to get involved with theater and star in musicals. (Who knew I could sing before that? Not me really.) Fitness and nutrition led Deb to working as a trainer and then as the fitness desk manager at Body Zone. That led to meeting and becoming friends with Jim and Toni Reece. That got us involved with USANA. That led me to be friends with Werner Berger, the oldest North American to climb Mt Everest (at 69).

All that started with my co-worker Todd, who handed me a book. What small event can or did change your life? I have a goal to help people lead healthier, more fulfilled lives. I want to be a catalyst to move people to live better.
